Srinagar, Oct 27 (KNO) : The residents of Shalpora Allochi Bagh Wednesday staged a protest against the ward officer and his staff for using “abusive language” to senior citizens and women in the society. Talking with the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) president of Masjid Council Ghulam Rasool Bhat said that they were constructing a house for a poor family of Naseer Ahmed with the help of Masjid baitul maal. “As we were about to lay a slab for the house, the ward officer sent a demolishing vehicle and abused and disrespected women of the poor family,” Bhat said. Bhat alleged that the ward officer Irshad Ahmed Sofi abused and threatened to register an FIR against them. “He (ward officer) told us that neither he cares about the SMC commissioner nor the municipal counselor,” Bhat alleged. The residents demanded and appealed to the LG Governor and SMC Commissioner for immediate removal of the ward officer along with his two workers. “Municipal Commissioner should take action against the officer, or he will be responsible for agitation and law and order situation in our area,” locals said.
